The Importance of LinkedIn

Numbers can be relatively meaningless, but orders of magnitude are nonetheless important (and of course, revenue). Social media accounts/active users for various Internet properties provide some food for thought.

Organizational Culture and Growth at LinkedIn

As an organization, LinkedIn has continued to grow and also improve their operations. Their stock has also improved quite well since the IPO, marking them as a success, especially when compared with Facebook stock performance.

LinkedIn is important therefore not only as a growing social network to use and a stock to invest in, but also as a successful organization to learn from. One interesting facet is how Jeff Weiner has operationalized the term Focus into the acronym FoCuS or FCS:

  • F ewer things done better
  • C ommunicating the right information to the right people at the right time
  • S peed and quality of decision-making
